Baylor Profile
Baylor University, known for rigorous academics and strong Christian values, is one of a small group of institutions in the country to receive an A for the strength of its core curriculum in a survey by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. Undergraduates choose from 142 degree programs, including the well-regarded pre-health care, engineering, and business programs, while graduate students pursue options covering more than 75 master and 41 doctoral programs, including the highly regarded Baylor Law School. Baylor is a founding member of the competitive Big 12 Conference and fields 19 varsity athletics teams.
Chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1845, today the 1,000-plus-acre campus in Waco welcomes nearly 17,000 students typically from all 50 states and over 90 foreign countries. Small class sizes allow Baylor professors to engage with students, while experiential learning opportunities and student-faculty research partnerships enhance these interactions. Study abroad options include discipline-specific mission trips giving students opportunities to use their skills to positively impact the world.
Students participate in more than 300 clubs and organizations where they form lasting friendships, celebrate their personal heritage, and embrace the cultures of others. In addition to campus activities, many students, faculty, and staff at the largest Baptist university in the world volunteer more than 150,000 hours annually with organizations in the Waco area.
